Three little things from the vast ocean of content - found when I had a minute, for when you have a minute.
This week: A Visual Feast, Marie Kondo's mistake and a beautiful long read about living as a big person.
Well well well, look at us. We made it all the way to 2019. Down here in New Zealand the Summer has been long and glorious - it is VERY hard to be productive when you could be soaking in a natural hot spring or eating your weight in Watermelon. Like all good things, my sybaritic Summer is now in it's final throes; work is in full swing, the fruits of my hustle are ready to be harvested and most importantly this blog isn't going to write itself. So *drum roll please* without further adieu, let's get the ball rolling with a nice little quick three !
One: "Epoch" a film from Kevin McGloughlin made entirely from google earth images.
It's no secret that I am a big fan of falling into the internet, but it feels like much less of a filler activity when I stumble across something like this. Kevin McGloughlin is a director and visual artist creating stunning short film works entirely from google earth images. There is something so hypnotic about the way these images fold in and out of one another, and definitely unsettling to think about the rapid impact humans have had on their surroundings. Check out his instagram for snippets of similar upcoming projects like this. Just wow.
Two: The one thing Marie Kondo regrets getting rid of (as told to one of my favourite writers Harling Ross for Manrepeller)
Having only attempted KonMari via a bootleg PDF (thanks Hazel) I would hardly call myself an authority on the cultural phenomenon of Marie Kondo. Luckily, the divine Harling Ross has gone fishing to get the bottom of just what the clear out guru herself regrets parting with. Be sure to also check out this important announcement, this little snippet and this just in from Copenhagen fashion week.
Three: What it's like to be too big in America by Tommy Tomlinson
Too often I forget to check out the beautiful long form editorials over at The Atlantic, but this beautiful piece by Tommy Tomlinson tugged on my heart strings. If this article is anything to go by, I can't wait to get my hands on his brand new book The Elephant in the Room. What have you been reading so far this year? What have you got on your need-to-read list? Now for reals, I'm off to finish editing some of the little gems sitting in the draft folder. Stay cool til next time xoxo
